Truyền Khắc Luật Pháp vào Ðá
27 Bấy giờ Môi-se và các trưởng lão của I-sơ-ra-ên truyền cho mọi người dân như sau, “Hãy giữ tất cả điều răn mà tôi truyền cho anh chị em ngày nay. 2 Trong ngày anh chị em qua Sông Giô-đanh để vào xứ mà Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em, ban cho anh chị em, anh chị em hãy dựng lên những tảng đá rồi dùng thạch cao trét vào. 3 Anh chị em hãy khắc trên những tảng đá đó mọi lời trong bộ luật pháp nầy khi anh chị em đã qua sông để vào trong xứ mà Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em, ban cho anh chị em, một xứ đượm sữa và mật, y như Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của tổ tiên anh chị em, đã hứa với anh chị em. 4 Vậy khi anh chị em đã qua Sông Giô-đanh, anh chị em hãy dựng lên những tảng đá ấy, tức điều tôi truyền cho anh chị em ngày nay trên Núi Ê-banh, rồi hãy dùng thạch cao mà trét chúng lại.
5 Anh chị em hãy xây một bàn thờ cho Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em, tại đó, tức một bàn thờ làm bằng những viên đá mà anh chị em không dùng các vật dụng bằng sắt để đục đẽo. 6 Anh chị em hãy xây một bàn thờ cho Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em, bằng những viên đá nguyên vẹn, rồi dâng trên đó các của lễ thiêu lên Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em, 7 và dâng trên đó các của lễ cầu an; sau đó anh chị em hãy ăn các của lễ ấy tại đó, mà vui mừng trước thánh nhan Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em.
8 Anh chị em hãy khắc trên những tảng đá đó mọi lời của bộ luật nầy một cách rõ ràng.”
9 Bấy giờ Môi-se và các tư tế người Lê-vi nói với toàn dân I-sơ-ra-ên rằng, “Hỡi I-sơ-ra-ên! Hãy yên lặng và lắng nghe. Hôm nay anh chị em đã trở thành dân của Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em. 10 Vậy hãy vâng lời Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của anh chị em, hãy gìn giữ mọi điều răn và luật lệ của Ngài mà tôi truyền cho anh chị em ngày nay.”
Mười Hai Lời Nguyền Rủa
11 Cũng trong ngày ấy Môi-se hiệu triệu dân chúng rằng:
12 “Sau khi anh chị em đã đi qua Sông Giô-đanh, các chi tộc sau đây sẽ đứng trên Núi Ghê-ri-xim để chúc phước cho dân: Si-mê-ôn, Lê-vi, Giu-đa, I-sa-ca, Giô-sép, và Bên-gia-min. 13 Còn các chi tộc sau đây sẽ đứng trên Núi Ê-banh để nguyền rủa: Ru-bên, Gát, A-se, Xê-bu-lun, Ðan, và Náp-ta-li. 14 Bấy giờ những người Lê-vi sẽ cất tiếng lớn nói với toàn dân I-sơ-ra-ên rằng:
15 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ làm hình tượng hoặc đúc tượng rồi đặt trong nơi bí mật để thờ. Những hình tượng do tay thợ khéo làm ra là những gì gớm ghiếc đối với Chúa.’
Toàn dân sẽ đáp, ‘A-men!’
16 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ bất hiếu đối cha hoặc mẹ mình.’
Toàn dân sẽ đáp, ‘A-men!’
17 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ dời mốc ấn định ranh giới của người lân cận mình.’

18 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ dẫn người mù đi lạc đường.’
Toàn dân sẽ đáp, ‘A-men!’
19 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ tước đoạt công lý của kiều dân, cô nhi, và quả phụ.’
Toàn dân sẽ đáp, ‘A-men!’
20 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ ăn nằm với vợ lẽ của cha nó, vì nó đã xúc phạm đến người chia sẻ chăn gối của cha nó.’[a]

23 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ ăn nằm với mẹ vợ của nó.’
Toàn dân sẽ đáp, ‘A-men!’
24 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ bí mật giết hại người lân cận của nó.’
Toàn dân sẽ đáp, ‘A-men!’
25 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ nhận lấy của hối lộ để làm đổ máu người vô tội.’
Toàn dân sẽ đáp, ‘A-men!’
26 ‘Ðáng nguyền rủa thay là kẻ không gìn giữ những lời của bộ luật nầy mà làm theo.’

27 Then Moses and the leaders of Israel gave this charge to the people: “Obey all these commands that I am giving you today. 2 When you cross the Jordan River and enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster. 3 Write this whole body of instruction on them when you cross the river to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you—a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. 4 When you cross the Jordan, set up these stones at Mount Ebal and coat them with plaster, as I am commanding you today.
5 “Then build an altar there to the Lord your God, using natural, uncut stones. You must not shape the stones with an iron tool. 6 Build the altar of uncut stones, and use it to offer burnt offerings to the Lord your God. 7 Also sacrifice peace offerings on it, and celebrate by feasting there before the Lord your God. 8 You must clearly write all these instructions on the stones coated with plaster.”
9 Then Moses and the Levitical priests addressed all Israel as follows: “O Israel, be quiet and listen! Today you have become the people of the Lord your God. 10 So you must obey the Lord your God by keeping all these commands and decrees that I am giving you today.”
Curses from Mount Ebal
11 That same day Moses also gave this charge to the people: 12 “When you cross the Jordan River, the tribes of Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin must stand on Mount Gerizim to proclaim a blessing over the people. 13 And the tribes of Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali must stand on Mount Ebal to proclaim a curse.
14 “Then the Levites will shout to all the people of Israel:
15 ‘Cursed is anyone who carves or casts an idol and secretly sets it up. These idols, the work of craftsmen, are detestable to the Lord.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
16 ‘Cursed is anyone who dishonors father or mother.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
17 ‘Cursed is anyone who steals property from a neighbor by moving a boundary marker.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
18 ‘Cursed is anyone who leads a blind person astray on the road.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
19 ‘Cursed is anyone who denies justice to foreigners, orphans, or widows.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
20 ‘Cursed is anyone who has sexual intercourse with one of his father’s wives, for he has violated his father.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
21 ‘Cursed is anyone who has sexual intercourse with an animal.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
22 ‘Cursed is anyone who has sexual intercourse with his sister, whether she is the daughter of his father or his mother.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
23 ‘Cursed is anyone who has sexual intercourse with his mother-in-law.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
24 ‘Cursed is anyone who attacks a neighbor in secret.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
25 ‘Cursed is anyone who accepts payment to kill an innocent person.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’
26 ‘Cursed is anyone who does not affirm and obey the terms of these instructions.’
And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’

The Altar on Mount Ebal
27 Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people: “Keep all these commands(A) that I give you today. 2 When you have crossed the Jordan(B) into the land the Lord your God is giving you, set up some large stones(C) and coat them with plaster.(D) 3 Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey,(E) just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. 4 And when you have crossed the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Ebal,(F) as I command you today, and coat them with plaster. 5 Build there an altar(G) to the Lord your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool(H) on them. 6 Build the altar of the Lord your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God. 7 Sacrifice fellowship offerings(I) there, eating them and rejoicing(J) in the presence of the Lord your God.(K) 8 And you shall write very clearly all the words of this law on these stones(L) you have set up.”(M)
Curses From Mount Ebal
9 Then Moses and the Levitical(N) priests said to all Israel, “Be silent, Israel, and listen! You have now become the people of the Lord your God.(O) 10 Obey the Lord your God and follow his commands and decrees that I give you today.”
11 On the same day Moses commanded the people:
12 When you have crossed the Jordan, these tribes shall stand on Mount Gerizim(P) to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar,(Q) Joseph and Benjamin.(R) 13 And these tribes shall stand on Mount Ebal(S) to pronounce curses: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali.
14 The Levites shall recite to all the people of Israel in a loud voice:
15 “Cursed is anyone who makes an idol(T)—a thing detestable(U) to the Lord, the work of skilled hands—and sets it up in secret.”
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”(V)
16 “Cursed is anyone who dishonors their father or mother.”(W)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
17 “Cursed is anyone who moves their neighbor’s boundary stone.”(X)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
18 “Cursed is anyone who leads the blind astray on the road.”(Y)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
19 “Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner,(Z) the fatherless or the widow.”(AA)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
20 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his father’s wife, for he dishonors his father’s bed.”(AB)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
21 “Cursed is anyone who has sexual relations with any animal.”(AC)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
22 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.”(AD)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
23 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his mother-in-law.”(AE)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
24 “Cursed is anyone who kills(AF) their neighbor secretly.”(AG)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
25 “Cursed is anyone who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person.”(AH)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
26 “Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out.”(AI)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”(AJ)
