²⁸ the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.

² and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, ‘Let us follow other gods’ (gods you have not known) ‘and let us worship them,’

¹³ that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, ‘Let us go and worship other gods’ (gods you have not known),

²⁶ They went off and worshipped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.

⁸ But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.

⁹ ‘“Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury,^[a] burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,

¹⁰ and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say, ‘We are safe’– safe to do all these detestable things?

²⁸ Furthermore, just as they did not think it worth while to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

³² Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practise them.
