³ But be assured today that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you^(A) like a devouring fire.^(B) He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly,^(C) as the Lord has promised you.

²⁴ For the Lord your God is a consuming fire,^(A) a jealous God.^(B)

²⁹ for our “God is a consuming fire.”^[a](A)

More Than Conquerors

³¹ What, then, shall we say in response to these things?^(A) If God is for us,^(B) who can be against us?^(C)

⁴ For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you^(A) to fight^(B) for you against your enemies to give you victory.^(C)”

²³ But the Lord your God will deliver them over to you, throwing them into great confusion until they are destroyed.^{(A) 24} He will give their kings^(B) into your hand,^(C) and you will wipe out their names from under heaven. No one will be able to stand up against you;^(D) you will destroy them.^(E)

¹¹ See, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth^(A) will go into the Jordan ahead of you.^(B)

²⁹ But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals^(A) too numerous for you. ³⁰ Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession^(B) of the land.

³¹ “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea^[a] to the Mediterranean Sea,^[b] and from the desert to the Euphrates River.^(C) I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out^(D) before you.
