¹⁴ then your heart will become proud and you will forget^(A) the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

⁷ For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive?^(A) And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

⁸ Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich!^(B) You have begun to reign—and that without us! How I wish that you really had begun to reign so that we also might reign with you!

¹⁶ But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride^(A) led to his downfall.^(B) He was unfaithful^(C) to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense^(D) on the altar of incense.

¹¹ Be careful that you do not forget^(A) the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.

³¹ “You of this generation, consider the word of the Lord:

²⁵ But Hezekiah’s heart was proud^(A) and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the Lord’s wrath^(B) was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem.

²⁰ and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law^(A) to the right or to the left.^(B) Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.^(C)
