⁹ lest I be full and deny you
    and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or I be poor and steal
    and profane the name of my God.^(A)

⁵ It was I who fed^[a] you in the wilderness,
    in the land of drought.^(A)
6 When I fed^[b] them, they were satisfied;
    they were satisfied, and their heart was proud;
    therefore they forgot me.^(B)

¹⁵ Jacob ate his fill;^[a]
    Jeshurun grew fat and kicked.
    You grew fat, bloated, and gorged!
He abandoned God who made him
    and scoffed at the Rock of his salvation.^(A)

¹¹ Therefore because you trample on the poor
    and take from them levies of grain,
you have built houses of hewn stone,
    but you shall not live in them;
you have planted pleasant vineyards,
    but you shall not drink their wine.^(A)

¹⁴ who says, “I will build myself a spacious house
    with large upper rooms,”
and who cuts out windows^[a] for it,
    paneling it with cedar
    and painting it with vermilion.^(A)
15 Are you a king
    because you compete in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink
    and do justice and righteousness?
    Then it was well with him.^(B)
