¹⁹ You saw with your own eyes the great trials, the signs and wonders, the mighty hand^(A) and outstretched arm, with which the Lord your God brought you out. The Lord your God will do the same to all the peoples you now fear.^(B)

³⁴ Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation,^(A) by testings,^(B) by signs^(C) and wonders,^(D) by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,^(E) or by great and awesome deeds,^(F) like all the things the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?

¹⁰ This is how you will know that the living God^(A) is among you^(B) and that he will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites,^(C) Hivites, Perizzites,^(D) Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites.^(E)

⁶ On that day I swore^(A) to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey,^(B) the most beautiful of all lands.^{(C) 7} And I said to them, “Each of you, get rid of the vile images^(D) you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols^(E) of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.^(F)”

⁸ “‘But they rebelled against me and would not listen to me;^(G) they did not get rid of the vile images they had set their eyes on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt.^(H) So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in Egypt.^{(I) 9} But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt.^(J) I did it to keep my name from being profaned^(K) in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites.

³ With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those signs and great wonders.^(A)

² Remember today that your children^(A) were not the ones who saw and experienced the discipline of the Lord your God:^(B) his majesty,^(C) his mighty hand, his outstretched arm;^{(D) 3} the signs he performed and the things he did in the heart of Egypt, both to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his whole country;^{(E) 4} what he did to the Egyptian army, to its horses and chariots,^(F) how he overwhelmed them with the waters of the Red Sea^[a](G) as they were pursuing you, and how the Lord brought lasting ruin on them.
