5 And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them.

Moses Commands Obedience

4 “And now, O Israel, listen to ^(A)the statutes and the rules^[a] that I am teaching you, and do them, ^(B)that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

³ so do and observe whatever they tell you, ^(A)but not the works they do. ^(B)For they preach, but do not practice.

¹⁰ “You are standing today, all of you, before the Lord your God: the heads of your tribes,^[a] your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel,

^2 [a] And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: ^(A)“You have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land,

The Command to Leave Horeb

1 These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in ^(A)the Arabah opposite ^(B)Suph, between ^(C)Paran and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
