^33 (A)Did any people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?

²² Now Gideon ^(A)perceived that He was the Angel of the Lord. So Gideon said, “Alas, O Lord God! ^(B)For I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face.”

²⁴ And you said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and ^(A)we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he ^(B)still lives.

^26 (A)For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

²⁰ But He said, “You cannot see My face; for ^(A)no man shall see Me, and live.”

¹¹ But on the nobles of the children of Israel He ^(A)did not ^[a]lay His hand. So ^(B)they saw God, and they ^(C)ate and drank.

^10 (A)Then the Lord delivered to me two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them were all the words which the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire ^(B)in^[a] the day of the assembly.

²⁴ For ^(A)the Lord your God is a consuming fire, ^(B)a jealous God.

²⁵ “When you beget children and grandchildren and have grown old in the land, and act corruptly and make a carved image in the form of anything, and ^(C)do evil in the sight of the Lord your God to provoke Him to anger, ^26 (D)I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess; you will not ^[a]prolong your days in it, but will be utterly destroyed.

The Law of the Altar

²² Then the Lord said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘You have seen that I have talked with you ^(A)from heaven.
