²⁷ The Lord will scatter you among the peoples; only a few of you will be left among the nations where the Lord will lead you.^(A)

⁶² Although once you were as numerous as the stars in heaven, you shall be left few in number because you did not obey the Lord your God.^{(A) 63} And just as the Lord took delight in making you prosperous and numerous, so the Lord will take delight in bringing you to ruin and destruction; you shall be plucked off the land that you are entering to possess.^{(B) 64} The Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.^(C)

³³ And you I will scatter among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword against you; your land shall be a desolation and your cities a waste.^(A)

²⁶ Meshech and Tubal are there, and all their multitude, their graves all around them, all of them uncircumcised, pierced by the sword, for they spread terror in the land of the living.^(A)

¹⁵ And they shall know that I am the Lord when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries.^(A)

⁸ Remember the word that you commanded Moses your servant, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples,^{(A) 9} but if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts are under the farthest skies, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I have chosen to establish my name.’^(B)

³ They replied, “The remnant there in the province who escaped captivity are in great trouble and shame; the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been destroyed by fire.”^(A)
