¹⁶ so that you do not become corrupt^(A) and make for yourselves an idol,^(B) an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman,

²⁹ “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill.^(A)

²³ Be careful not to forget the covenant^(A) of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol^(B) in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden.

⁷ Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt,^(A) have become corrupt.^(B)

²² Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools^{(A) 23} and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images^(B) made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

²⁴ Therefore God gave them over^(C) in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.^(D)

⁴ He was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus^(A) and Secundus from Thessalonica,^(B) Gaius^(C) from Derbe, Timothy^(D) also, and Tychicus^(E) and Trophimus^(F) from the province of Asia.^{(G) 5} These men went on ahead and waited for us^(H) at Troas.^(I)

²⁴ God is spirit,^(A) and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
