Moses Dies and Is Buried in the Land of Moab

34 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho, and the Lord showed him the whole land: Gilead as far as Dan,

⁴⁹ “Ascend this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab across from Jericho, and view the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites for a possession;^(A)

⁴⁷ When the territory of the Danites was lost to them, the Danites went up and fought against Leshem, and after capturing it and putting it to the sword, they took possession of it and settled in it, calling Leshem Dan, after their ancestor Dan.^(A)

Joshua Appointed Moses’s Successor

¹² The Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range, and see the land that I have given to the Israelites.^(A)

¹⁰ And in the spirit^[a] he carried me away to a great, high mountain and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.^(A)

² He brought me, in visions of God, to the land of Israel and set me down upon a very high mountain on which was a structure like a city to the south.^(A)

²⁹ They named the city Dan after their ancestor Dan, who was born to Israel, but the name of the city was formerly Laish.^(A)

⁴ The Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.”^(A)

⁵² Although you may view the land from a distance, you shall not enter it, the land that I am giving to the Israelites.”^(A)

²⁷ Go up to the top of Pisgah and look around you to the west, to the north, to the south, and to the east. Look well, for you shall not cross over this Jordan.^(A)
