¹⁹ Beloved, ^(A)do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ^(B)“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

³⁰ For we know Him who said, ^(A)“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” ^[a]says the Lord. And again, ^(B)“The Lord will judge His people.”

God’s Wrath on His Enemies

³ By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction ^[a]does not slumber.

⁸ But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and ^(A)a thousand years as one day. ^9 (B)The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but ^(C)is longsuffering toward ^[a]us, ^(D)not willing that any should perish but ^(E)that all should come to repentance.

The Day of the Lord

¹⁰ But ^(F)the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which ^(G)the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be ^[b]burned up.

⁸ and

^(B)They stumble, being disobedient to the word, ^(C)to which they also were appointed.

⁷ And ^(A)shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? ⁸ I tell you ^(B)that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
