^12 (A)the Lord alone guided him,
    ^(B)no foreign god was with him.

⁵² Then he led out his people ^(A)like sheep
    and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
^53 (B)He led them in safety, so that they ^(C)were not afraid,
    but ^(D)the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

^4 (A)even to your old age I am he,
    and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
    I will carry and will save.

^7 (A)Who is like me? Let him proclaim it.^[a]
    Let him declare and set it before me,
since I appointed an ancient people.
    Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.
⁸ Fear not, nor be afraid;
    have I not told you from of old and declared it?
    ^(B)And you are my witnesses!
^(C)Is there a God besides me?
    There is no ^(D)Rock; I know not any.”

^9 (A)In all their affliction he was afflicted,^[a]
    and the angel of his presence saved them;
^(B)in his love and in his pity he redeemed them;
    ^(C)he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

^11 (A)I, I am the Lord,
    and besides me there is no savior.
¹² I declared and saved and proclaimed,
    when there was no strange god among you;
    and ^(B)you are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and I am God.

¹⁶ to him who ^(A)led his people through the wilderness,
    for his steadfast love endures forever;

^14 (A)In the daytime he led them with a cloud,
    and all the night with a fiery light.
