³ The Lord your God ^(A)Himself crosses over before you; He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. ^(B)Joshua himself crosses over before you, just ^(C)as the Lord has said.

³ Therefore understand today that the Lord your God is He who ^(A)goes over before you as a ^(B)consuming fire. ^(C)He will destroy them and bring them down before you; ^(D)so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has said to you.

¹⁴ On that day the Lord ^(A)exalted^[a] Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they had feared Moses, all the days of his life.

^2 (A)“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.

^23 (A)Then He inaugurated Joshua the son of Nun, and said, ^(B)“Be strong and of good courage; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land of which I swore to them, and I will be with you.”

²⁸ But ^(A)command^[a] Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.’

⁸ For if ^[a]Joshua had ^(A)given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.
