^23 (A)Then He inaugurated Joshua the son of Nun, and said, ^(B)“Be strong and of good courage; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land of which I swore to them, and I will be with you.”

Prediction of Israel’s Rebellion

¹⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, ^(A)“Behold, the days approach when you must die; call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of meeting, that ^(B)I may ^[a]inaugurate him.”

So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tabernacle of meeting.

⁷ Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, ^(A)“Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. ⁸ And the Lord, ^(B)He is the One who goes before you. ^(C)He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

^45 (A)which our fathers, having received it in turn, also brought with Joshua into the land possessed by the Gentiles, ^(B)whom God drove out before the face of our fathers until the ^(C)days of David,

²⁸ But ^(A)command^[a] Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.’

^5 (A)No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; ^(B)as I was with Moses, so ^(C)I will be with you. ^(D)I will not leave you nor forsake you. ^6 (E)Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall ^[a]divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. ⁷ Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law ^(F)which Moses My servant commanded you; ^(G)do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may ^[b]prosper wherever you go. ^8 (H)This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but ^(I)you^[c] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. ^9 (J)Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; ^(K)do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

³ The Lord your God ^(A)Himself crosses over before you; He will destroy these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess them. ^(B)Joshua himself crosses over before you, just ^(C)as the Lord has said.
