²⁰ When I have brought them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and filled themselves ^(A)and grown fat, ^(B)then they will turn to other gods and serve them; and they will provoke Me and break My covenant.

Caution Against Disobedience

¹⁰ “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He ^[a]swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities ^(A)which you did not build, ¹¹ houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—^(B)when you have eaten and are full— ¹² then beware, lest you forget the ^(C)Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

⁸ So ^(A)I have come down to ^(B)deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land ^(C)to a good and large land, to a land ^(D)flowing with milk and honey, to the place of ^(E)the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

²⁰ ‘Therefore thus says the Lord God to them: ^(A)“Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat and the lean sheep.

^16 (A)“I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy ^(B)the fat and the strong, and feed them ^(C)in judgment.”
