¹⁴ But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.

⁸ But what does it say? ^(A)“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); ⁹ because, if ^(B)you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and ^(C)believe in your heart ^(D)that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

⁴⁶ For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for ^(A)he wrote of me.

I Never Knew You

^21 (A)“Not everyone who ^(B)says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will ^(C)enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who ^(D)does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

⁵ And ^(A)whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are ^(B)a rebellious house) ^(C)they will know that a prophet has been among them.

^33 (A)When this comes—and come it will!—^(B)then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”

^31 (A)And they come to you as people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear what you say but they will not do it; for ^(B)with lustful talk in their mouths they act; their heart is set on their gain.

^11 (A)‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that ^(B)the kingdom of God has come near.’ ¹² I tell you, ^(C)it will be more bearable on ^(D)that day for Sodom than for that town.

Warning Against Neglecting Salvation

2 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. ² For since ^(A)the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and ^(B)every transgression or disobedience received a just ^(C)retribution, ^3 (D)how shall we escape if we ^(E)neglect such a great salvation? It was ^(F)declared at first by the Lord, and it was ^(G)attested to us ^(H)by those who heard,
