One king was (A)Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon and ruled half of Gilead, from Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, from the middle of that river, even as far as the River Jabbok, which is the border of the Ammonites, and (B)the eastern Jordan plain from the [a]Sea of Chinneroth as far as the [b]Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), (C)the road to Beth Jeshimoth, and [c]southward below (D)the[d] slopes of Pisgah. The other king was (E)Og king of Bashan and his territory, who was of (F)the remnant of the giants, (G)who dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, and reigned over (H)Mount Hermon, (I)over Salcah, over all Bashan, (J)as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and over half of Gilead to the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

(K)These Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel had conquered; and (L)Moses the servant of the Lord had given it as a possession to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh.

33 So (A)Moses gave to the children of Gad, to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, (B)the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with its cities within the borders, the cities of the surrounding country. 34 And the children of Gad built (C)Dibon and Ataroth and (D)Aroer, 35 Atroth and Shophan and (E)Jazer and Jogbehah, 36 (F)Beth Nimrah and Beth Haran, (G)fortified cities, and folds for sheep. 37 And the children of Reuben built (H)Heshbon and Elealeh and Kirjathaim, 38 (I)Nebo and (J)Baal Meon (K)(their names being changed) and Shibmah; and they gave other names to the cities which they built.

39 And the children of (L)Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it, and [a]dispossessed the Amorites who were in it. 40 So Moses (M)gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he dwelt in it. 41 Also (N)Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its small towns, and called them (O)Havoth Jair.[b] 42 Then Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and he called it Nobah, after his own name.
