²³ The whole land will be a burning waste^(A) of salt^(B) and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah,^(C) Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger.^(D)

²⁴ Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur^(A) on Sodom and Gomorrah^(B)—from the Lord out of the heavens.^{(C) 25} Thus he overthrew those cities^(D) and the entire plain,^(E) destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.^(F)

²⁹ But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

¹¹ But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.^(A)

⁴⁵ All that day Abimelek pressed his attack against the city until he had captured it and killed its people. Then he destroyed the city^(A) and scattered salt^(B) over it.
