¹¹ your little ones and your wives—also the stranger who is in your camp, from ^(A)the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water—

³⁸ A ^(A)mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds—a great deal of ^(B)livestock.

¹¹ where there is neither ^(A)Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, ^(B)but Christ is all and in all.

^28 (A)There is neither Jew nor Greek, ^(B)there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all ^(C)one in Christ Jesus.

²¹ And the rulers said to them, “Let them live, but let them be ^(A)woodcutters and water carriers for all the congregation, as the rulers had ^(B)promised them.”

²² Then Joshua called for them, and he spoke to them, saying, “Why have you deceived us, saying, ^(C)‘We are very far from you,’ when ^(D)you dwell near us? ²³ Now therefore, you are ^(E)cursed, and none of you shall be freed from being slaves—woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”

²⁴ So they answered Joshua and said, “Because your servants were clearly told that the Lord your God ^(F)commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; therefore ^(G)we were very much afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing. ²⁵ And now, here we are, ^(H)in your hands; do with us as it seems good and right to do to us.” ²⁶ So he did to them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, so that they did not kill them. ²⁷ And that day Joshua made them ^(I)woodcutters and water carriers for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, ^(J)in the place which He would choose, even to this day.

⁴ Now the ^(A)mixed multitude who were among them ^[a]yielded to ^(B)intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: ^(C)“Who will give us meat to eat?

⁴⁸ And ^(A)when a stranger ^[a]dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it. ^49 (B)One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you.”
