¹⁰ “All of you stand today before the Lord your God: your leaders and your tribes and your elders and your officers, all the men of Israel,

¹⁵ And the ^(A)kings of the earth, the great men, ^[a]the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, ^(B)hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,

^28 (A)Now the rest of the people—the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, ^(B)and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and understanding—

The People Confess Their Sins

9 Now on the twenty-fourth day of ^(A)this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, ^(B)and with ^[a]dust on their heads. ² Then ^(C)those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and ^(D)confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.

² So Ezra the priest brought ^(A)the Law before the assembly of men and women and all who could hear with understanding ^(B)on the first day of the seventh month.

Josiah Restores True Worship^(A)

^29 (B)Then the king sent and gathered all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. ³⁰ The king went up to the house of the Lord, with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests and the Levites, and all the people, great and small. And he ^(C)read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant which had been found in the house of the Lord. ³¹ Then the king ^(D)stood in ^(E)his place and made a ^(F)covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book. ³² And he made all who were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin take a stand. So the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
