^9 (A)“The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways.

⁵ Now ^(A)therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and ^(B)keep My covenant, then ^(C)you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is ^(D)Mine. ⁶ And you shall be to Me a ^(E)kingdom of priests and a ^(F)holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

⁶ “For you are a ^[a]holy people to the Lord your God; ^(A)the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.

¹⁸ Also today ^(A)the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments, ¹⁹ and that He will set you ^(B)high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be ^(C)a ^[a]holy people to the Lord your God, just as He has spoken.”

¹⁰ But ^[a]may the God of all grace, ^(A)who called ^[b]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, ^[c]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

^17 (A)So none of the accursed things shall remain in your hand, that the Lord may ^(B)turn from the fierceness of His anger and show you mercy, have compassion on you and ^[a]multiply you, just as He swore to your fathers,

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of ^(A)darkness into His marvelous light; ^10 (B)who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

Living Before the World

¹¹ Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts ^(C)which war against the soul,

^14 (A)who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed ^(B)and purify for Himself ^(C)His own special people, zealous for good works.
