⁵⁴ The ^[a]sensitive and very refined man among you ^(A)will^[b] be hostile toward his brother, toward ^(B)the wife of his bosom, and toward the rest of his children whom he leaves behind,

^15 (A)Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or ^(B)is your eye evil because I am good?’

⁹ Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your ^(A)eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and ^(B)he cry out to the Lord against you, and ^(C)it become sin among you.

^6 (A)“If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, ^(B)the wife ^[a]of your bosom, or your friend ^(C)who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers,

^11 (A)If a son asks for ^[a]bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? ¹² Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give ^(B)good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

^9 (A)Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰ Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? ¹¹ If you then, ^(B)being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
