¹¹ “I overthrew some of you
    as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.^(A)
You were like a burning stick^(B) snatched from the fire,
    yet you have not returned to me,”
declares the Lord.^(C)

²⁴ Therefore, as tongues of fire^(A) lick up straw^(B)
    and as dry grass sinks down in the flames,
so their roots will decay^(C)
    and their flowers blow away like dust;^(D)
for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty
    and spurned the word^(E) of the Holy One^(F) of Israel.

¹⁵ Fire resides^[a] in his tent;^(A)
    burning sulfur^(B) is scattered over his dwelling.
¹⁶ His roots dry up below^(C)
    and his branches wither above.^(D)
17 The memory of him perishes from the earth;^(E)
    he has no name^(F) in the land.^(G)
18 He is driven from light into the realm of darkness^(H)
    and is banished^(I) from the world.^(J)
19 He has no offspring^(K) or descendants^(L) among his people,
    no survivor^(M) where once he lived.^(N)
20 People of the west are appalled^(O) at his fate;^(P)
    those of the east are seized with horror.
²¹ Surely such is the dwelling^(Q) of an evil man;^(R)
    such is the place^(S) of one who does not know God.”^(T)
