¹² “When you have crossed over the Jordan, ^(A)these shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

⁷ When it was told to Jotham, he went and stood on top of ^(A)Mount Gerizim and cried aloud and said to them, “Listen to me, you leaders of Shechem, that God may listen to you.

³³ And all Israel, ^(A)sojourner as well as native born, with their elders and officers and their judges, stood on opposite sides of the ark before the Levitical priests ^(B)who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, half of them in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, ^(C)just as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded at the first, to bless the people of Israel. ³⁴ And afterward ^(D)he read all the words of the law, ^(E)the blessing and the curse, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. ³⁵ There was not a word of all that Moses commanded that Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel, ^(F)and the women, and the little ones, and ^(G)the sojourners who lived^[a] among them.

^26 (A)“See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: ^27 (B)the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, ²⁸ and ^(C)the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today, ^(D)to go after other gods that you have not known. ²⁹ And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, you shall set ^(E)the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.

¹⁸ And as her soul was departing (for she was dying), she called his name Ben-oni;^{[a] (A)}but his father called him Benjamin.^[b]

²⁴ And she called his name Joseph,^[a] saying, ^(A)“May the Lord add to me another son!”

¹⁸ Leah said, “God has given me my wages because I gave my servant to my husband.” So she called his name Issachar.^[a]

³³ She conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Because the Lord has heard that I am hated, he has given me this son also.” And she called his name Simeon.^{[a] 34} Again she conceived and bore a son, and said, “Now this time my husband will be ^(A)attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.^{[b] 35} And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” Therefore she called his name ^(B)Judah.^[c] Then she ceased bearing.
