¹⁹ He has declared that he will set you in praise,^(A) fame and honor high above all the nations^(B) he has made and that you will be a people holy^(C) to the Lord your God, as he promised.

⁹ But you are a chosen people,^(A) a royal priesthood,^(B) a holy nation,^(C) God’s special possession,^(D) that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.^(E)

Blessings for Obedience

28 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow^(A) all his commands^(B) I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.^(C)

⁶ For you are a people holy^(A) to the Lord your God.^(B) The Lord your God has chosen^(C) you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.^(D)

⁷ What other nation is so great^(A) as to have their gods near^(B) them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him? ⁸ And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws^(C) as this body of laws I am setting before you today?

⁶ you^[a] will be for me a kingdom of priests^(A) and a holy nation.’^(B) These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,^(A) the firstborn from the dead,^(B) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.^(C)

To him who loves us^(D) and has freed us from our sins by his blood,^{(E) 6} and has made us to be a kingdom and priests^(F) to serve his God and Father^(G)—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.^(H)

⁵ you also, like living stones, are being built^(A) into a spiritual house^[a](B) to be a holy priesthood,^(C) offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.^(D)
