⁸ Accept atonement, O Lord, for your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, and ^(A)do not set the guilt of innocent blood in the midst of your people Israel, so that their blood guilt be atoned for.’

¹⁴ Therefore they called out to the Lord, “O Lord, let us not perish for this man's life, and ^(A)lay not on us innocent blood, ^(B)for you, O Lord, have done as it pleased you.”

^15 (A)who killed both the Lord Jesus and ^(B)the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and ^(C)oppose all mankind ^16 (D)by hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved—so as always ^(E)to fill up the measure of their sins. But ^(F)wrath has come upon them at last!^[a]

³⁵ so that on you may come all ^(A)the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous ^(B)Abel to the blood of ^(C)Zechariah the son of Barachiah,^[a] whom you murdered between ^(D)the sanctuary and ^(E)the altar.

²⁴ And they shall come against you from the north^[a] with chariots and wagons and a host of peoples. ^(A)They shall set themselves against you on every side with buckler, shield, and helmet; and ^(B)I will commit the judgment to them, and ^(C)they shall judge you according to their judgments. ²⁵ And I will direct my jealousy against you, ^(D)that they may deal with you in fury. They shall cut off your nose and your ears, and your survivors shall fall by the sword. ^(E)They shall seize your sons and your daughters, and your survivors shall be devoured by fire.

^3 (A)They played the whore in Egypt; ^(B)they played the whore ^(C)in their youth; there their breasts were pressed and their virgin bosoms^[a] handled.

¹⁵ Only know for certain that if you put me to death, ^(A)you will bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and its inhabitants, for in truth the Lord sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”

⁴ and also ^(A)for the innocent blood that he had shed. For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord would not pardon.
