¹⁸ Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods,^(A) and you will sin^(B) against the Lord your God.

³⁰ and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared^(A) by inquiring about their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.”^{(B) 31} You must not worship the Lord your God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates.^(C) They even burn their sons^(D) and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.^(E)

³³ Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare^(A) to you.”

¹¹ Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,^(A) but rather expose them.

¹⁴ Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them,^(A) in order that they may feel ashamed.^(B)

¹⁷ Therefore,

³³ Do not be misled:^(A) “Bad company corrupts good character.”^[a](B)

¹³ then you may be sure that the Lord your God will no longer drive out^(A) these nations before you. Instead, they will become snares^(B) and traps for you, whips on your backs and thorns in your eyes,^(C) until you perish from this good land,^(D) which the Lord your God has given you.
