¹⁸ and the judges shall make a thorough inquiry. If the witness is a false witness, having testified falsely against another,

⁴ and if it is reported to you or you hear of it, and you make a thorough inquiry, and the charge is proved true that such an abhorrent thing has occurred in Israel,^(A)

¹⁴ then you shall inquire and make a thorough investigation. If the charge is established that such an abhorrent thing has been done among you,

⁶ and said to the judges, “Consider what you are doing, for you judge not on behalf of humans but on the Lord’s behalf; he is with you in giving judgment.^{(A) 7} Now, let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take care what you do, for there is no perversion of justice with the Lord our God or partiality or taking of bribes.”^(B)
