¹⁸ The judges must investigate the case thoroughly. If the accuser has brought false charges against his fellow Israelite,

⁴ When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel,

¹⁴ In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find that the report is true and such a detestable act has been committed among you,

⁶ and he said to them, “Always think carefully before pronouncing judgment. Remember that you do not judge to please people but to please the Lord. He will be with you when you render the verdict in each case. ⁷ Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes.”
