¹⁸ The judges must make a thorough investigation,^(A) and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against a fellow Israelite,

⁴ and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true^(A) and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel,^(B)

¹⁴ then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly.^(A) And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you,^(B)

⁶ He told them, “Consider carefully what you do,^(A) because you are not judging for mere mortals^(B) but for the Lord, who is with you whenever you give a verdict. ⁷ Now let the fear of the Lord be on you. Judge carefully, for with the Lord our God there is no injustice^(C) or partiality^(D) or bribery.”
