The Portion of the Priests and Levites

18 “The priests, the Levites—all the tribe of Levi—shall have ^[a]no part nor ^(A)inheritance with Israel; they shall eat the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and His portion.

^13 (A)Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the ^(B)temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? ¹⁴ Even so ^(C)the Lord has commanded ^(D)that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.

^9 (A)Therefore Levi has no portion nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, just as the Lord your God promised him.)

Offerings for Support of the Priests

⁸ And the Lord spoke to Aaron: “Here, ^(A)I Myself have also given you ^[a]charge of My heave offerings, all the holy gifts of the children of Israel; I have given them ^(B)as a portion to you and your sons, as an ordinance forever. ⁹ This shall be yours of the most holy things reserved from the fire: every offering of theirs, every ^(C)grain offering and every ^(D)sin offering and every ^(E)trespass offering which they render to Me, shall be most holy for you and your sons.

^14 (A)Only to the tribe of Levi he had given ^[a]no inheritance; the sacrifices of the Lord God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, ^(B)as He said to them.

^19 [a]Take heed to yourself that you do not forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.

²⁰ Then the Lord said to Aaron: “You shall have ^(A)no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among them; ^(B)I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.

^33 (A)But to the tribe of Levi Moses had given no inheritance; the Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, ^(B)as He had said to them.

^62 (A)Now those who were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and above; ^(B)for they were not numbered among the other children of Israel, because there was ^(C)no inheritance given to them among the children of Israel.
