^2 (A)“If there is found among you, within any of your ^[a]gates which the Lord your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the Lord your God, ^(B)in transgressing His covenant,

The Apostasy of Israel

²⁰ Then the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and He said, “Because this nation has ^(A)transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not heeded My voice,

¹² because they ^(A)did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed His covenant and all that Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded; and they would neither hear nor do them.

^16 [a]When you have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which He commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed down to them, then the ^(A)anger of the Lord will burn against you, and you shall perish quickly from the good land which He has given you.”

^15 (A)Then it shall be that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burned with fire, he and all that he has, because he has ^(B)transgressed^[a] the covenant of the Lord, and because he ^(C)has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.’ ”

¹¹ Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. ^(A)For they have even taken some of the ^[a]accursed things, and have both stolen and ^(B)deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff.

⁵ then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and ^(A)shall stone ^(B)to death that man or woman with stones.
