17 Do not sacrifice to the Lord your God an ox or a sheep that has any defect^(A) or flaw in it, for that would be detestable^(B) to him.^(C)

²¹ If an animal has a defect,^(A) is lame or blind, or has any serious flaw, you must not sacrifice it to the Lord your God.^(B)

⁸ When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals,^(A) is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased^(B) with you? Would he accept you?” says the Lord Almighty.^(C)

¹⁸ You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute^[a] into the house of the Lord your God to pay any vow, because the Lord your God detests them both.^(A)

⁴ then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the Lord. Do not bring sin upon the land the Lord^(A) your God is giving you as an inheritance.

²⁰ Do not bring anything with a defect,^(A) because it will not be accepted on your behalf.^{(B) 21} When anyone brings from the herd or flock^(C) a fellowship offering^(D) to the Lord to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering,^(E) it must be without defect or blemish^(F) to be acceptable.^{(G) 22} Do not offer to the Lord the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as a food offering presented to the Lord. ²³ You may, however, present as a freewill offering an ox^[a] or a sheep that is deformed or stunted, but it will not be accepted in fulfillment of a vow. ²⁴ You must not offer to the Lord an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn or cut.^(H) You must not do this in your own land, ²⁵ and you must not accept such animals from the hand of a foreigner and offer them as the food of your God.^(I) They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are deformed and have defects.^(J)’”

¹⁹ but with the precious blood^(A) of Christ, a lamb^(B) without blemish or defect.^(C)

¹⁴ How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit^(A) offered himself^(B) unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences^(C) from acts that lead to death,^[a](D) so that we may serve the living God!^(E)

¹³ And you say, ‘What a burden!’^(A) and you sniff at it contemptuously,^(B)” says the Lord Almighty.

“When you bring injured, lame or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices,^(C) should I accept them from your hands?”^(D) says the Lord. ¹⁴ “Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal^(E) to the Lord. For I am a great king,^(F)” says the Lord Almighty,^(G) “and my name is to be feared^(H) among the nations.^(I)
