¹⁵ Remember that you were slaves^(A) in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you.^(B) That is why I give you this command today.

¹² Remember that you were slaves in Egypt,^(A) and follow carefully these decrees.

⁹ This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son^(A) into the world that we might live through him.^{(B) 10} This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us^(C) and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.^{(D) 11} Dear friends,^(E) since God so loved us,^(F) we also ought to love one another.^(G)

¹⁶ This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.^(A) And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.^(B)

¹⁴ who gave himself for us^(A) to redeem us from all wickedness^(B) and to purify^(C) for himself a people that are his very own,^(D) eager to do what is good.^(E)

³² Be kind and compassionate to one another,^(A) forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.^(B) 5 ¹ Follow God’s example,^(C) therefore, as dearly loved children^{(D) 2} and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us^(E) and gave himself up for us^(F) as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.^(G)

¹² remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners^(A) to the covenants of the promise,^(B) without hope^(C) and without God in the world.

⁷ In him we have redemption^(A) through his blood,^(B) the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches^(C) of God’s grace

³² “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. ³³ Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’
