Improper Mourning

14 “You are ^(A)the children of the Lord your God; ^(B)you shall not cut yourselves nor ^[a]shave the front of your head for the dead.

^5 (A)‘They shall not make any bald place on their heads, nor shall they shave the edges of their beards nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

Sons and Heirs

²⁶ For you ^(A)are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

⁸ That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but ^(A)the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

⁵ that certain men came from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, eighty men ^(A)with their beards shaved and their clothes torn, having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to ^(B)the house of the Lord.

⁶ Both the great and the small shall die in this land. They shall not be buried; ^(A)neither shall men lament for them, ^(B)cut themselves, nor ^(C)make themselves bald for them.

²⁷ You shall not shave around the sides of your head, nor shall you disfigure the edges of your beard. ²⁸ You shall not ^(A)make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.

^16 (A)The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

¹² But ^(A)as many as received Him, to them He gave the ^[a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
