⁹ for you have not yet come into the rest and the possession that the Lord your God is giving you.

⁵⁶ “Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel according to all that he promised; not one word has failed of all his good promise that he spoke through his servant Moses.^(A)

¹⁹ Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies on every hand, in the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess, you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; do not forget.^(A)

A Living Hope

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead^{(A) 4} and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,

⁸ For if Joshua had given them rest, God^[a] would not speak later about another day. ⁹ So then, a Sabbath rest still remains for the people of God,

²⁵ For David said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he resides in Jerusalem forever.^(A)
