⁶ (The Israelites traveled from the wells of Bene Jaakan to Moserah.^(A) There Aaron died^(B) and was buried, and Eleazar^(C) his son succeeded him as priest.^(D)

²³ At Mount Hor, near the border of Edom,^(A) the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, ²⁴ “Aaron will be gathered to his people.^(B) He will not enter the land I give the Israelites, because both of you rebelled against my command^(C) at the waters of Meribah.^{(D) 25} Get Aaron and his son Eleazar and take them up Mount Hor.^{(E) 26} Remove Aaron’s garments^(F) and put them on his son Eleazar, for Aaron will be gathered to his people;^(G) he will die there.”

²⁷ Moses did as the Lord commanded: They went up Mount Hor^(H) in the sight of the whole community. ²⁸ Moses removed Aaron’s garments and put them on his son Eleazar.^(I) And Aaron died there^(J) on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain,

Stages in Israel’s Journey

33 Here are the stages in the journey^(A) of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt^(B) by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.^{(C) 2} At the Lord’s command Moses recorded^(D) the stages in their journey^(E). This is their journey by stages:

¹² Then the Israelites set out from the Desert of Sinai and traveled from place to place until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran.^{(A) 13} They set out, this first time, at the Lord’s command through Moses.^(B)

⁶ At the sounding of a second blast, the camps on the south are to set out.^(A) The blast will be the signal for setting out.
