⁹ The Lord watches over the strangers;
    he upholds the orphan and the widow,
    but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.^(A)

¹¹ Leave your orphans; I will keep them alive,
    and let your widows trust in me.^(A)

¹⁷     learn to do good;
seek justice;
    rescue the oppressed;
defend the orphan;
    plead for the widow.^(A)

⁹ The Lord is good to all,
    and his compassion is over all that he has made.^(A)

³ Assyria shall not save us;
    we will not ride upon horses;
we will say no more, ‘Our God,’
    to the work of our hands.
In you the orphan finds mercy.”^(A)
