⁷ Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the ^[a]plain, in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates.

^24 (A)Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: ^(B)from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the ^[a]Western Sea, shall be your territory.

⁴⁰ So Joshua conquered all the land: the ^(A)mountain country and the ^[a]South and the lowland and the wilderness slopes, and ^(B)all their kings; he left none remaining, but ^(C)utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel had commanded.

³ And ^(A)David ^[a]defeated ^[b]Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his power by the River Euphrates.

⁹ Eastward they settled as far as the ^[a]entrance of the wilderness this side of the River Euphrates, because their cattle had ^[b]multiplied ^(A)in the land of Gilead.

³ David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of ^(A)Zobah, as he went to recover ^(B)his territory at the River Euphrates.

¹⁵ And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, ^(A)choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether ^(B)the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of ^[a]the River, or ^(C)the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. ^(D)But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

¹⁶ Thus Joshua took all this land: ^(A)the mountain country, all the South, ^(B)all the land of Goshen, the lowland, and the Jordan ^[a]plain—the mountains of Israel and its lowlands, ^17 (C)from ^[b]Mount Halak and the ascent to Seir, even as far as Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. He captured ^(D)all their kings, and struck them down and killed them.
