⁵ East of the Jordan in the territory of Moab,^(A) Moses began to expound this law, saying:

⁴⁶ he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day,^(A) so that you may command^(B) your children to obey carefully all the words of this law.

Public Reading of the Law

⁹ So Moses wrote^(A) down this law and gave it to the Levitical priests, who carried^(B) the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.

¹⁸ When he takes the throne^(A) of his kingdom, he is to write^(B) for himself on a scroll a copy^(C) of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. ¹⁹ It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life^(D) so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees^(E)

⁸ And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws^(A) as this body of laws I am setting before you today?
