La loi gravée sur des pierres au mont Ebal
27 Moïse et les anciens d’Israël donnèrent cet ordre au peuple: Observez tous les commandements que je vous prescris aujourd’hui.
2 Lorsque vous aurez passé le Jourdain, pour entrer dans le pays que l’Eternel, ton Dieu, te donne, tu dresseras de grandes pierres, et tu les enduiras de chaux. 3 Tu écriras sur ces pierres toutes les paroles de cette loi, lorsque tu auras passé le Jourdain, pour entrer dans le pays que l’Eternel, ton Dieu, te donne, pays où coulent le lait et le miel, comme te l’a dit l’Eternel, le Dieu de tes pères. 4 Lorsque vous aurez passé le Jourdain, vous dresserez sur le mont Ebal ces pierres que je vous ordonne aujourd’hui de dresser, et tu les enduiras de chaux. 5 Là, tu bâtiras un autel à l’Eternel, ton Dieu, un autel de pierres, sur lesquelles tu ne porteras point le fer; 6 tu bâtiras en pierres brutes l’autel de l’Eternel, ton Dieu. Tu offriras sur cet autel des holocaustes à l’Eternel, ton Dieu; 7 tu offriras des sacrifices d’actions de grâces, et tu mangeras là et te réjouiras devant l’Eternel, ton Dieu. 8 Tu écriras sur ces pierres toutes les paroles de cette loi, en les gravant bien nettement.
9 Moïse et les sacrificateurs, les Lévites, parlèrent à tout Israël, et dirent: Israël, sois attentif et écoute! Aujourd’hui, tu es devenu le peuple de l’Eternel, ton Dieu. 10 Tu obéiras à la voix de l’Eternel, ton Dieu, et tu mettras en pratique ses commandements et ses lois que je te prescris aujourd’hui.
Bénédictions sur le mont Garizim et malédictions sur le mont Ebal
11 Le même jour, Moïse donna cet ordre au peuple: 12 Lorsque vous aurez passé le Jourdain, Siméon, Lévi, Juda, Issacar, Joseph et Benjamin se tiendront sur le mont Garizim, pour bénir le peuple; 13 et Ruben, Gad, Aser, Zabulon, Dan et Nephthali se tiendront sur le mont Ebal, pour prononcer la malédiction. 14 Et les Lévites prendront la parole, et diront d’une voix haute à tout Israël:
15 Maudit soit l’homme qui fait une image taillée ou une image en métal fondu, abomination de l’Eternel, œuvre des mains d’un artisan, et qui la place dans un lieu secret! Et tout le peuple répondra, et dira: Amen!
16 Maudit soit celui qui méprise son père et sa mère! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
17 Maudit soit celui qui déplace les bornes de son prochain! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
18 Maudit soit celui qui fait égarer un aveugle dans le chemin! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
19 Maudit soit celui qui porte atteinte au droit de l’étranger, de l’orphelin et de la veuve! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
20 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec la femme de son père, car il soulève la couverture de son père! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
21 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec une bête quelconque! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
22 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec sa sœur, fille de son père ou fille de sa mère! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
23 Maudit soit celui qui couche avec sa belle-mère! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
24 Maudit soit celui qui frappe son prochain en secret! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
25 Maudit soit celui qui reçoit un présent pour répandre le sang de l’innocent! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!
26 Maudit soit celui qui n’accomplit point les paroles de cette loi, et qui ne les met point en pratique[a]! Et tout le peuple dira: Amen!

The Altar on Mount Ebal
27 Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people: “Keep all these commands(A) that I give you today. 2 When you have crossed the Jordan(B) into the land the Lord your God is giving you, set up some large stones(C) and coat them with plaster.(D) 3 Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey,(E) just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. 4 And when you have crossed the Jordan, set up these stones on Mount Ebal,(F) as I command you today, and coat them with plaster. 5 Build there an altar(G) to the Lord your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool(H) on them. 6 Build the altar of the Lord your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God. 7 Sacrifice fellowship offerings(I) there, eating them and rejoicing(J) in the presence of the Lord your God.(K) 8 And you shall write very clearly all the words of this law on these stones(L) you have set up.”(M)
Curses From Mount Ebal
9 Then Moses and the Levitical(N) priests said to all Israel, “Be silent, Israel, and listen! You have now become the people of the Lord your God.(O) 10 Obey the Lord your God and follow his commands and decrees that I give you today.”
11 On the same day Moses commanded the people:
12 When you have crossed the Jordan, these tribes shall stand on Mount Gerizim(P) to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar,(Q) Joseph and Benjamin.(R) 13 And these tribes shall stand on Mount Ebal(S) to pronounce curses: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali.
14 The Levites shall recite to all the people of Israel in a loud voice:
15 “Cursed is anyone who makes an idol(T)—a thing detestable(U) to the Lord, the work of skilled hands—and sets it up in secret.”
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”(V)
16 “Cursed is anyone who dishonors their father or mother.”(W)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
17 “Cursed is anyone who moves their neighbor’s boundary stone.”(X)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
18 “Cursed is anyone who leads the blind astray on the road.”(Y)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
19 “Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner,(Z) the fatherless or the widow.”(AA)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
20 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his father’s wife, for he dishonors his father’s bed.”(AB)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
21 “Cursed is anyone who has sexual relations with any animal.”(AC)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
22 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.”(AD)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
23 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his mother-in-law.”(AE)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
24 “Cursed is anyone who kills(AF) their neighbor secretly.”(AG)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
25 “Cursed is anyone who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person.”(AH)
Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”
26 “Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out.”(AI)

27 Муса и старейшины Исраила повелели народу:
– Исполняйте все повеления, которые я даю вам сегодня. 2 Когда вы перейдёте через Иордан в землю, которую Вечный, ваш Бог, даёт вам, тогда поставьте большие камни и покройте их известью. 3 Напишите на них все слова этого Закона, когда переправитесь через Иордан, чтобы войти в землю, которую Вечный, ваш Бог, даёт вам, землю, где течёт молоко и мёд, как Вечный, Бог ваших предков, и обещал вам. 4 А когда вы перейдёте через Иордан и установите эти камни на горе Гевал, как я повелеваю вам сегодня, покройте их известью. 5 Постройте там жертвенник Вечному, вашему Богу, жертвенник из камней. Не обрабатывайте эти камни железным орудием. 6 Постройте жертвенник Вечному, вашему Богу, из нетёсаных камней и приносите на нём всесожжения Вечному, вашему Богу. 7 Приносите там жертвы примирения, ешьте их и веселитесь в присутствии Вечного, вашего Бога. 8 Напишите чётко и ясно все слова этого Закона на камнях, которые вы установите.
Проклятия с горы Гевал
9 Затем Муса и священнослужители-левиты сказали всему Исраилу:
– Молчи и слушай, Исраил! Теперь ты стал народом Вечного, твоего Бога. 10 Слушайся Вечного, твоего Бога, и исполняй все Его повеления и установления, которые мы даём тебе сегодня.
11 В тот же день Муса повелел народу:
12 – Когда вы перейдёте через Иордан, то пусть роды Шимона, Леви, Иуды, Иссахара, Юсуфа и Вениамина встанут на горе Геризим, чтобы благословлять народ. 13 А роды Рувима, Гада, Ашира, Завулона, Дана и Неффалима пусть встанут на горе Гевал, чтобы произносить проклятия.
14 Левиты будут возвещать всему народу Исраила громким голосом:
15 – Проклят человек, который сделает изваянного или литого идола – вещь, отвратительную Вечному, работу рук ремесленника, и поставит его в тайнике.
И весь народ пусть скажет:

The Law Inscribed on Stones
27 Now Moses, with the elders of Israel, commanded the people, saying: “Keep all the commandments which I command you today. 2 And it shall be, on the day (A)when you cross over the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, that (B)you shall set up for yourselves large stones, and whitewash them with lime. 3 You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have crossed over, that you may enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, (C)‘a land flowing with milk and honey,’ just as the Lord God of your fathers promised you. 4 Therefore it shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that (D)on Mount Ebal you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, and you shall whitewash them with lime. 5 And there you shall build an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; (E)you shall not use an iron tool on them. 6 You shall build with [a]whole stones the altar of the Lord your God, and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God. 7 You shall offer peace offerings, and shall eat there, and (F)rejoice before the Lord your God. 8 And you shall (G)write very plainly on the stones all the words of this law.”
9 Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying, “Take heed and listen, O Israel: (H)This day you have become the people of the Lord your God. 10 Therefore you shall obey the voice of the Lord your God, and observe His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.”
Curses Pronounced from Mount Ebal
11 And Moses commanded the people on the same day, saying, 12 “These shall stand (I)on Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have crossed over the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin; 13 and (J)these shall stand on Mount Ebal to curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
14 “And (K)the Levites shall speak with a loud voice and say to all the men of Israel: 15 (L)‘Cursed is the one who makes a carved or molded image, [b]an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’
(M)“And all the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen!’
16 (N)‘Cursed is the one who treats his father or his mother with contempt.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
17 (O)‘Cursed is the one who moves his neighbor’s landmark.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
18 (P)‘Cursed is the one who makes the blind to wander off the road.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
19 (Q)‘Cursed is the one who perverts the justice due the stranger, the fatherless, and widow.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
20 (R)‘Cursed is the one who lies with his father’s wife, because he has uncovered his father’s bed.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
21 (S)‘Cursed is the one who lies with any kind of animal.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
22 (T)‘Cursed is the one who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.’
“And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
23 (U)‘Cursed is the one who lies with his mother-in-law.’
