14 “You shall not (A)oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns. 15 (B)You shall give him his wages on the same day, before the sun sets (for he is poor and counts on it), (C)lest he cry against you to the Lord, and you be guilty of sin.

16 (D)“Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.

17 (E)“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, (F)or take a widow's garment in pledge, 18 but (G)you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this.

19 (H)“When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, (I)that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20 When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over them again. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. 21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not strip it afterward. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. 22 (J)You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this.

25 “If there is a (K)dispute between men and they come into court and the judges decide between them, (L)acquitting the innocent and condemning the guilty, then if the guilty man deserves to be beaten, the judge shall cause him to lie down and be beaten in his presence with a number of stripes in proportion to his offense. (M)Forty stripes may be given him, but not more, lest, if one should go on to beat him with more stripes than these, your brother be degraded in your sight.

Laws Concerning Levirate Marriage

(O)“If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the wife of the dead man shall not be married outside the family to a stranger. Her (P)husband's brother shall go in to her and take her as his wife and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her. And the first son whom she bears shall succeed to the name of his dead brother, that (Q)his name may not be blotted out of Israel. And if the man does not wish to take his brother's wife, then his brother's wife shall (R)go up to the gate to the elders and say, ‘My husband's brother refuses to perpetuate his brother's name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband's brother to me.’ Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak to him, and if he persists, saying, (S)‘I do not wish to take her,’ then his brother's wife shall go up to him in the presence of the elders and (T)pull his sandal off his foot and (U)spit in his face. And she shall answer and say, ‘So shall it be done to the man who does not (V)build up his brother's house.’ 10 And the name of his house[a] shall be called in Israel, ‘The house of him who had his sandal pulled off.’

Miscellaneous Laws

11 “When men fight with one another and the wife of the one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of him who is beating him and puts out her hand and seizes him by the private parts, 12 then you shall cut off her hand. (W)Your eye shall have no pity.

13 “You (X)shall not have in your bag two kinds of weights, a large and a small. 14 You shall not have in your house two kinds of measures, a large and a small. 15 A full and fair[b] weight you shall have, a full and fair measure you shall have, (Y)that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. 16 For (Z)all who do such things, all who act dishonestly, (AA)are an abomination to the Lord your God.

17 (AB)“Remember what Amalek did to you (AC)on the way as you came out of Egypt, 18 how he attacked you on the way when you were faint and weary, and (AD)cut off your tail, those who were lagging behind you, and he did not fear God. 19 Therefore (AE)when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies around you, in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess, you shall (AF)blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you shall not forget.

25 When people have a dispute, they are to take it to court and the judges(O) will decide the case,(P) acquitting(Q) the innocent and condemning the guilty.(R) If the guilty person deserves to be beaten,(S) the judge shall make them lie down and have them flogged in his presence with the number of lashes the crime deserves, but the judge must not impose more than forty lashes.(T) If the guilty party is flogged more than that, your fellow Israelite will be degraded in your eyes.(U)

If brothers are living together and one of them dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband’s brother shall take her and marry her and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her.(W) The first son she bears shall carry on the name of the dead brother so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.(X)

However, if a man does not want to marry his brother’s wife,(Y) she shall go to the elders at the town gate(Z) and say, “My husband’s brother refuses to carry on his brother’s name in Israel. He will not fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to me.”(AA) Then the elders of his town shall summon him and talk to him. If he persists in saying, “I do not want to marry her,” his brother’s widow shall go up to him in the presence of the elders, take off one of his sandals,(AB) spit in his face(AC) and say, “This is what is done to the man who will not build up his brother’s family line.” 10 That man’s line shall be known in Israel as The Family of the Unsandaled.

11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.(AD)

13 Do not have two differing weights in your bag—one heavy, one light.(AE) 14 Do not have two differing measures in your house—one large, one small. 15 You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long(AF) in the land the Lord your God is giving you. 16 For the Lord your God detests anyone who does these things, anyone who deals dishonestly.(AG)

17 Remember what the Amalekites(AH) did to you along the way when you came out of Egypt. 18 When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind; they had no fear of God.(AI) 19 When the Lord your God gives you rest(AJ) from all the enemies(AK) around you in the land he is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the name of Amalek(AL) from under heaven.
