10 Then you shall keep (A)the Feast of Weeks to the Lord your God with (B)the tribute of a freewill offering from your hand, which you shall give (C)as the Lord your God blesses you.

On (A)the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, (B)as he may prosper, (C)so that there will be no collecting when I come.

So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the (A)gift[a] you have promised, so that it may be ready (B)as a willing gift, (C)not as an exaction.[b]

The Cheerful Giver

The point is this: (D)whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[c] will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, (E)not reluctantly or under compulsion, for (F)God loves a cheerful giver. And (G)God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency[d] in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written,

(H)“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
    his righteousness endures forever.”

10 He who supplies (I)seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and (J)increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 (K)You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which (L)through us will produce thanksgiving to God.

So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers(A) to visit you in advance and finish the arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. Then it will be ready as a generous gift,(B) not as one grudgingly given.(C)

Generosity Encouraged

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.(D) Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give,(E) not reluctantly or under compulsion,(F) for God loves a cheerful giver.(G) And God is able(H) to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need,(I) you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts(J) to the poor;
    their righteousness endures forever.”[a](K)

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food(L) will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.(M) 11 You will be enriched(N) in every way so that you can be generous(O) on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.(P)
