³⁹ And the little ones that you said would be taken captive,^(A) your children who do not yet know^(B) good from bad—they will enter the land. I will give it to them and they will take possession of it.

¹⁵ He will be eating curds^(A) and honey^(B) when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, ¹⁶ for before the boy knows^(C) enough to reject the wrong and choose the right,^(D) the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste.^(E)

³ Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword?^(A) Our wives and children^(B) will be taken as plunder.^(C) Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?^(D)”

¹¹ Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad^(A)—in order that God’s purpose^(B) in election might stand:

¹¹ And should I not have concern^(A) for the great city of Nineveh,^(B) in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”

³¹ As for your children that you said would be taken as plunder, I will bring them in to enjoy the land you have rejected.^(A)

³ All of us also lived among them at one time,^(A) gratifying the cravings of our flesh^[a](B) and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.
