26 A la fin des soixante-deux septaines, un homme ayant reçu l’onction sera mis à mort, bien qu’on ne puisse rien lui reprocher[a]. Quant à la ville et au sanctuaire, ils seront détruits par le peuple d’un chef qui viendra[b], mais sa fin arrivera, provoquée comme par une inondation, et jusqu’à la fin, séviront la guerre et les dévastations qui ont été décrétées. 27 L’oint[c] conclura une alliance ferme avec un grand nombre[d] au cours d’une septaine et, à la moitié de la septaine, il fera cesser le sacrifice et l’offrande. Dans le Temple sera établie l’abominable profanation[e], et cela durera jusqu’à ce que l’entière destruction qui a été décrétée s’abatte sur le dévastateur.

- 9.27 D’autres comprennent qu’il s’agit, non de l’oint des v. 25 et 26 mais du chef dont il vient d’être question dans la seconde partie du v. 26. La structure doit ici orienter l’interprétation : chacun des v. 25, 26 et 27 se compose de deux parties : dans la première, il est question de l’oint et de septaines ; la seconde partie concerne la ville ou le sanctuaire, il y est question d’une épreuve pour le peuple de Dieu.
- 9.27 un grand nombre: réminiscence d’Es 53.12.
- 9.27 Dans le Temple… profanation: traduction incertaine. Autres traductions : le dévastateur s’en prendra au Temple abominable ou le dévastateur ira jusqu’au bout des abominations. C’est à cette abominable profanation que Jésus fait allusion en Mt 24.15.

26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death(A) and will have nothing.[a] The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood:(B) War will continue until the end, and desolations(C) have been decreed.(D) 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’[b] In the middle of the ‘seven’[c] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple[d] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed(E) is poured out on him.[e]”[f]

But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
(G)Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the [c]desolate.”
