23 In the latter period of their [a]reign,
When the transgressors have [b]run their course,
A king will stand,
[c]Insolent and skilled in [d]intrigue.
24 His power will be mighty, but not by his own power,
And he will [e](A)destroy to an [f]astonishing degree
And succeed and do his will;
He will [g]destroy mighty men and [h]the holy people.
25 And through his insight
He will cause deceit to succeed by his hand;
And he will magnify himself in his heart,
And he will [i]destroy many while they are [j]at ease.

But he will be broken (C)without hands.

23 “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a fierce-looking king, a master of intrigue, will arise. 24 He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people.(A) 25 He will cause deceit(B) to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes.(C) Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.(D)

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

23 »”Hacia el final de esos reinos, cuando la rebelión de los impíos llegue al colmo, surgirá un rey de aspecto feroz, maestro de la intriga, 24 que llegará a tener mucho poder, pero no por sí mismo. Ese rey causará impresionantes destrozos y saldrá airoso en todo lo que emprenda. Destruirá a los poderosos y al pueblo santo. 25 Con su astucia propagará el engaño, creyéndose un ser superior.
