³ Four great beasts,^(A) each different from the others, came up out of the sea.

⁷ Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast^(A) that comes up from the Abyss^(B) will attack them,^(C) and overpower and kill them.

¹⁴ Because of the signs^(A) it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived^(B) the inhabitants of the earth.^(C) It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.^{(D) 15} The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship^(E) the image to be killed.^(F)

² And I saw what looked like a sea of glass^(A) glowing with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious^(B) over the beast^(C) and its image^(D) and over the number of its name.^(E) They held harps^(F) given them by God

¹³ Then I saw three impure spirits^(A) that looked like frogs;^(B) they came out of the mouth of the dragon,^(C) out of the mouth of the beast^(D) and out of the mouth of the false prophet.^(E)

⁸ The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss^(A) and go to its destruction.^(B) The inhabitants of the earth^(C) whose names have not been written in the book of life^(D) from the creation of the world will be astonished^(E) when they see the beast, because it once was, now is not, and yet will come.
