Daniel 6:16-18
Contemporary English Version
16 (A) So Darius ordered Daniel to be brought out and thrown into a pit of lions. But he said to Daniel, “You have been faithful to your God, and I pray that he will rescue you.”
17 A stone was rolled over the pit, and it was sealed. Then Darius and his officials stamped the seal to show that no one should let Daniel out. 18 All night long the king could not sleep. He did not eat anything, and he would not let anyone come in to entertain him.

16 So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.” 17 (A)Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, (B)and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed.

16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den.(A) The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue(B) you!”
17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed(C) it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating(D) and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.(E)

16 Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared[a] to Daniel, “May (A)your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!” 17 (B)And a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, (C)and the king sealed it (D)with his own signet and with the signet of his (E)lords, that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel. 18 Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; (F)no diversions were brought to him, and (G)sleep fled from him.
