23 but you have (A)risen up against the (B)Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your nobles, your wives, and your concubines have been drinking wine out of them; and you have praised the (C)gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor understand. But the God (D)in whose hand are your life-breath and all your (E)ways, you have not glorified. 24 Then the [a](F)hand was sent from Him and this inscription was written out.
25 “Now this is the inscription that was written:

23 Instead, you have set yourself up against(A) the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives(B) and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand.(C) But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life(D) and all your ways.(E) 24 Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.
25 “This is the inscription that was written:

And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, (C)which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand (D)and owns all your ways, you have not glorified. 24 Then the [c]fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.
25 “And this is the inscription that was written:
[d]MENE, MENE, [e]TEKEL, [f]UPHARSIN.

23 anzi ti sei innalzato contro il Signore del cielo; ti sei fatto portare davanti i vasi del suo tempio, e in essi avete bevuto vino tu e i tuoi grandi le tue mogli e le tue concubine. Inoltre hai lodato gli dèi d'argento, d'oro, di bronzo, di ferro, di legno e di pietra, che non vedono, non odono e non comprendono e non hai glorificato il Dio, nella cui mano è il tuo soffio vitale e a cui appartengono tutte le tue vie.
24 Perciò dalla sua presenza è stata mandata la parte di quella mano, che ha tracciato la scritta.
25 Questa è la scritta che è stata tracciata: MENE, MENE, TEKEL UFARSIN.
